What Is A Power Vent?
A power vent is an exhaust system that can be used to vent oil boilers. These venting systems make it possible to vent your boiler, furnace, or water heater through a cap on a side wall, rather than up through the roof (like a traditional chimney).
Power vents are great options for homes where the chimney venting the oil boiler is no longer useable. Maybe the liner is beyond repair or the chimney needs to be torn down, and you’re looking for another option that doesn’t involve the installation of a metal or prefab chimney? Or maybe your home lacks a chimney altogether because it was previously heated with electric power? Either way, a power vent could be a great solution.
How Does A Power Vent Work?
A wall mounted thermostat essentially tells the power vent when to kick on. Once the power vent reaches the correct speed, the burner is fired. When the boiler kicks off, the power vent continues to run for a while to make sure all of the flue gases are properly removed from the home.
